Sections on Etk.fi about the A1 certificate and pensions from abroad updated
The Sections “Working abroad” and “Pensions from abroad” on the Etk.fi website have been updated. The idea behind the update was to make the web pages clearer and to help people apply for the A1 certificate and pensions from abroad.
The sections on insuring work abroad and pensions from abroad can now be found under the heading “International affairs”.
Main content of the updated sections
Working abroad tells about the A1 certificate and how to apply for it. The new updates include separate pages for different customer groups, such as employees, the self-employed, grant recipients and civil servants, with information on the conditions for insuring work abroad.
To Finland from abroad explains how to insure work in Finland in international situations, for example when an employee or a self-employed person temporarily comes to Finland from abroad for work, or when a foreign company hires employees in Finland.
Pensions from abroad explains how to apply for foreign pensions in Finland and Finnish pensions from abroad. It also includes information for people who receive pensions from abroad.
International Affairs includes sections on other countries’ pension systems, international comparisons and EU cooperation. These sections have not changed in the update.
The website has changed but the information is the same
The rules about applying for an A1 certificate or foreign pensions have not changed. This update is about how the layout and how the information is structured on the Etk.fi website. The update is based on customer feedback and suggestions.
We have clarified the structure of the sections and the language used. We have also made the information easier to access by making the pages easier to read and providing information specific to different customer groups. The sections are now more comprehensive than before.
The changes were initially made to the Finnish-language website at the end of 2024. The Swedish and English versions of the website have been updated in March 2025.
